More important than the person who crosses the finish line first during the annual Nevada Day Classic fun run, is the one who crosses in the best style.
Marques Giron, 29, won the Best Costume for his portrayal of Peter Venkman in "Ghostbusters."
He took liberties with the costume, adding a patch of hairy chest and a pink, plastic bottom.
"You've got to keep in shape to catch those ghosts," he said. "I need to keep my buns of steel."
Jill Larson, who owns Carson City Crossfit with her husband, Lief, entered her first competitive running event Saturday.
She ran the 8 kilometer course in 49 minutes, beating her own personal record by about two minutes.
"It was great. It was fun," she said. "I'm glad I had my husband, he was really motivating."
Overall winners were Jeff Huxold in the 8K and Jeannine Passas in the 2-mile run.
Tom Wion, president of the Sagebrush Stompers and Tahoe Mountain Milers that hosted the run with 372 participants, said it went well despite some timing issues.
"We had a great time, great costumes," he said. "We could always have more costumes next year."
Complete results will run on Friday's recreation page in the Nevada Appeal.
