Allied Nevada Gold Corp. of Reno said last week that its board of directors approved $20.7 million in spending for detailed engineering of a largec rusher unit at its Hycroft Mine near Winnemucca.
Part of the money also will be used to begin ordering equipment that has a long lead time before delivery.
The crusher unit is expected to be in operation in mid-2013. Allied Nevada said it expects to spend about $4 million on the project this year and $16.7 million next year.
The additional equipment is expected to boost recoveries of gold and silver from ores at the mine.
