Six finalists were named last week in the University of Nevada, Reno's first-ever Sontag Entrepreneurship Award Competition, which carries a grand prize of $50,000.
The six finalist teams are:
* BoxFeeds, which plans to convert waste products from the brewing process to viable products for other markets.
* Entropy Fuel Systems, which plans to reshape the direction and progress of ethanol production.
* Envirohaven, which plans self-contained, energy producing and efficiently designed home packages.
* Grabitech, which plans to manufacture, package and distribute software and hardware designed to aid consumers in keeping track of their personal belongings.
* Mining Environmental Technology and Services, which plans to develop, produce and market optical instruments to detect potentially harmful airborne particulates in mines.
* Modphalt Green Asphalt Technology, which plans to encapsulate ground tire rubber particles with a polymer to create a solution in the asphalt roofing industry.
