Top civil engineers, projects recognized

The Truckee Meadows Branch of The American Society of Civil Engineers has recognized outstanding local projects and engineers.

Recognition included:

* Outstanding Environmental Project of the Year: The City of Reno's McKinley low-impact development demonstration project. Consultants on the work were CFA Inc. and Construction Materials Engineers Inc. of Reno.

* Outstanding Environmental Project of the Year: Placer County's Lake Forest stream environment zone habitat project. Consultant was Mark Gookin of Wood Rodgers Inc. in Reno.

* Outstanding Structural Project of the Year: The Regional Transportation Commission's Vista sound wall. Josh Thompson of Atkins Global in Reno was the consultant on the project.

* Outstanding Transportation Project of the Year: RTC's RAPID transit system and stations. Stantec Consulting was the consulting engineer.

John Enloe of Stantec Consulting was recognized as the group's outstanding civil engineer of the year, and Catie Harrison of CFA was recognized as young civil engineer of the year.

Timothy Grover, Jack Byrom, and Dan Dyer were advanced to Life Member status in the society. The status is reserved for civil engineers who have a longtime commitment to the profession.
