Two teams from the University of Nevada, Reno, won cash prizes in the Donald W. Reynold's Governor's Cup college business plan competition last week.
Envirohaven won a $25,0000 first-place award among undergraduate teams for a plan for creation of self-contained, energy-efficient home packages. The team also won the $10,000 Lt. Governor's Award for best plan involving green energy or energy conservation.
Captain of Envirohaven is Clint Borchard, a management student at UNR. Team members and their majors include Vicki Bischoff (psychology), Manpreet Kaur (accounting), Shaun Cameron, (communication studies and information systems) and Adair Melendez (mechanical engineering).
Winning a $10,000 third-place award in the undergraduate competition was The Deep End, a team that proposes the deepest indoor swimming pool in the world. (The pool proposed for a Reno location would be 35-meters deep.)
Justin Morrill, a finance and economics student at UNR, was captain. He was joined by Jasper Allen Jacobs, a marketing student.
The competition is presented by Nevada's Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology.
