The delegation has been chosen and they are on the way to Reno. They readily represent the different branches of the party. Such harmony has never been known before. We can see no reason why all hands can't sit at the same table and break bread and not dishes across the board. Will somebody please pass the salt or at least have a little more of the gravy?

100 years ago

The election contest instituted by George Springmeyer for the office of Attorney-General came up at the Supreme Court this morning. Mr. Springmeyer wants a ruling. Mr. Baker wants a recount. The late James R. Judge, acting for Mr. Baker kept the notes and filed the objections. The whole thing is so muddled by its progress, it should be ripe by the next election four years from now.

The Ormsby rationing board me Monday to hear Ruth A. Russell's application to purchase a bicycle. The application of Robert L. Gillie for a bicycle was rejected for being ineligible. Three truck and bus tires and one bus tube was approved for use at the Nevada State Prison. The U.S. Indian Service got approval for one passenger tire ... a retread.

50 years ago

Carson City is on the verge of losing one of its most dedicated public servants. The city dog catcher, a lady, told the council last night she would like to resign. She has suffered in two ways, the national press has not always been kind to the lady Carson City dogcatcher and some dog lovers think more of dogs than they do of children. Mrs. Bartels is resigning for personal reasons.

A upper high pressure system continued over northern Nevada and brought another day of thunderstorms. Both Reno and Ely reported readings one degree short of records.

A legislative battled between two California mining camps has resulted in the great ghost town compromise of 2002. Bodie had been promoted as getting the spot. A Calico politician stepped in.
