Randy was born in Smyrna, Tennessee to Leander and Mary Evens. They moved to California, settling in the San Fernando Valley, where Randy lived until 1993. After graduating high school, Randy worked as a carpenter for his father's company, as well as other contractors over the years. In 1967, Randy married his sweetheart, Ginny Toalson. They had two daughters and a son, who would become his business partner. Randy became a General Contractor in 1976 and worked in the Southern California area until moving to Carson City, Nevada in 1993. Randy and his son Mike built two Spec homes in Gardnerville and went on to become a framing contractor (Framing Technologies.) In September 2011, Randy was diagnosed with Pleural Mesothelioma, a rare and incurable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Due to the crash of the construction industry and the illness, Framing Technologies went out of business. Randy fought very hard to beat the cancer for a year, finally succumbing to it on August 2, 2012. Randy was surrounded by his wife and children in death at his home. Randy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ginny; daughter, Laura, LAPD Detective of Santa Clarita, California; son, Mike, his wife Chelsey and granddaughters, Hailee and Staicee, of Sparks, Nevada; and daughter Diana, her husband Mike Hein, and grandson Nick and granddaughter Marissa of Dayton, Nevada. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Autumn Funerals & Cremations, 1575 N. Lompa Lane in Carson City, Nevada from 1:00-3:00 pm.
