Capurro Trucking, continuing its rebound out of the recession, has moved into an 18,000-square-foot headquarters facility at Sparks.

The facility at 955 Deming Way is near the company's previous location at 1210 Kleppe Lane.

Capurro Trucking, which also operates an office in Carlin, employs about 125 people.

Mary Martini, the chief financial officer of Capurro Trucking, said the new facility was financed by a Small Business Administration loan developed by Cindy Buchanan of Nevada State Bank and Lenny See of Nevada State Development Corp.

Launched 16 years ago, Capurro Trucking had focused on customers in the construction industry.

When construction ground to a near halt with the start of the recession, the company laid off employees and was forced to sell equipment.

Martini says strong working relationships with suppliers such as Peterbilt Truck Parts and Les Schwab Tire Centers helped Capurro Trucking weather the storm.

The company got new life, however, when it won a large contract with Barrick Mining to handle hauling in northeastern Nevada. With that contract, Capurro bought new equipment, hired drivers and mechanics and increased its office staff.

The addition of highway construction jobs in the region brought further growth and the need for a new headquarters.

"The loan through Nevada State Bank and NSDC made us a far more balanced company. Now we plan on growing," said Martini.
