Dynarex of Orangeburg, N.Y., continues is westward expansion with the opening of a 75,000-square-foot distribution center at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

Dynarex makes several thousand disposable products used in the medical industry, such as alcohol prep pads, diagnostic devices, a host of creams and ointments, wound care and emergency management products and exam gloves. The company founded in 1967 operates additional distribution centers in Jacksonville, Pochohontas, Ark., and Ada, Ohio.

The expansion to northern Nevada better positions the company to serve western markets, says Marketing Manager John Burns.

"Our company has been highly successful and has been growing a great deal over the last few years. We have a lot of West Coast customers and thought it would be a good idea to expand out there to help get our products to distributors and users in more cost-effective way and a more timely manner."

Racking was recently completed at the new facility at 725 Waltham Way, and products are arriving to the facility from all over the world, Burns says. Dynarex plans to have the facility full stocked and shipping products by mid January.

The company hired a logistics expert to help it find the most suitable location for its western expansion, and Reno made the most sense for business development, Burns says. The facility will employ seven and a warehouse manager to oversee shipping, receiving, pick-and-pack and material handling.

When fully ramped up the company could double its staff size, Burns says. Dynarex sells to medical distributors throughout the U.S. as well as in Canada, Europe and South America.

Bryan Gardner, senior consultant at RPM LTD of Reno assisted Dynarex with its site selection.
