Rodger Norman, the owner of Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, the owner of the Crystal Bay Club and the largest landowner in northern Nevada, has purchased the company that produces the Baja 1000 off-road race.

Norman purchased race producer SCORE International from 73-year-old Sal Fish, who owned the company for 39 years. Terms weren't disclosed.

A champion desert racer himself, Norman resurrected the High Desert Racing Association in 2011. He said the acquisition of SCORE International is a major step toward his goal of making northern Nevada the world's epicenter of off-road facing.

High Desert Racing Association plans three races in the United States next, and SCORE International will produce three races in Baja California. The Baja 1000 will become the final race in the off-road racing championship series.

Details of national television deals for the races will be announced in coming weeks, Norman said.
