BRIC unveils class for entrepreneurs

The Business Resource Innovation Center has partnered with the Nevada Small Business Development Center to start a training program for business owners.

The program, NxLevel for Entrepreneurs, will take place once a week in Carson City from March 20 through June 12. The classes will take place from 5:45 to 8:45 p.m. at the BRIC offices, 108 E. Proctor St.

The cost is $95 and is refundable to those who complete the course with 80 percent attendance and a written business plan. It will focus on teaching better business practices and how to produce a business plan to guide expansion, decisions and activities.

BRIC offers volunteer tax filing assistance

The Business Resource Innovation Center is hosting the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program at its offices.

Tax assistance is available by appointment, Monday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., all at the BRIC offices, 108 E. Proctor St.. Call 283-7123 to set up an appointment.

Individuals should bring: Photo proof of identification, Social Security cards for themselves, their spouse and all dependents or Social Security number verification letters issued by the Social Security Administration, birth dates for all persons listed on the tax return, wage and earning statement(s) forms W-2, W-2G, and 1099-R, from all employers, interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099), copies of their prior year federal and state returns, if available, bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit of their refunds, other relevant information about income and expenses amounts paid for day care, if applicable, and the day care provider's identifying number.

Both spouses must be present to sign joint returns. Anyone paid to prepare federal income tax returns is required by law to sign the return and enter their Preparer Tax Identification Number.

Chamber breakfast club meets Tuesday

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce will host its first breakfast club meeting of 2012 on Tuesday at Carson Plaza Retirement, 2120 E. Long St.

The cost is $5 for a member and $15 for nonmembers. In honor of it being the Chinese Year of the Dragon - considered the luckiest Chinese zodiac sign - the first 35 attendees will receive a finger puzzle. RSVP by calling 882-1565.
