Desert Research Institute won a $99,935 grant from USDA Rural Development to conduct energy audits for small rural businesses and agricultural producers in northwestern Nevada and northeastern California.
The program initially will focus on dairies within approximately 125 miles of Reno. A second phase would expand the program to rural small businesses such as restaurants and motels in the same geographical area. Applications for the energy audits are available at www.dri.edu/energy-assessments.
