Calling all CHS Alumni: Mark your calendars now for the fifth-annual Alumni Game, during which we will honor all past CHS graduates in attendance at the boys and girls basketball games versus Douglas High.
It's sure to be a fun night with raffles and special seating and recognition of alumni. Please plan to attend the rivalry game on Jan. 27 and wear your blue and white to show your continued support and loyalty to CHS against the Douglas Tigers.
Game times are 6 p.m. for girls and 7:30 p.m. for boys.
History Students Fundraising
Nineteen history students have signed up to attend the 57th Inauguration of the President in January 2013. To help defray the costs of this trip, students will be holding various fundraisers in the next few months.
Between now and Jan. 27, students will be selling $1 raffle tickets for prize baskets filled with goodies, some homemade, other store-made.
Other items being raffled are restaurant gift cards, tire discounts, carpet cleaning services, clothing, etc.
To purchase a ticket, please contact Angila Golik at agolik@carson.k12.nv.us.
Talent Show
Auditions for the Carson High School Talent Show are 2 p.m. Feb. 2 in the downstairs cafeteria. Students must all show up for sign-in at 2, but auditions may run past 4 p.m. We are looking for a lot of talent in natural and in fun ways.
Students should see Mr. Reedy if they have questions.
We hope the community will make note to attend the actual show 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Carson Community Center. Contact Brian Reedy at breedy@carson.k12.nv.us for more information.
Carson High PTSA & Safe Grad
Safe Grad will be holding a fundraiser at all of the McDonald's locations in Carson City on Wednesday.
Just mention Carson High PTSA and Safe Grad and the total purchase price of select menu items will go back to the Safe Grad committee.
Also, Safe Grad has a Facebook page where you can keep up on all the activities and fundraisers.
Social Studies Teachers Present
Teachers Jenny Chandler and Nicole Fagundes will be presenting at the Northern Nevada Social Studies Conference to be held in Reno on January 28th. Over a hundred social studies teachers from Northern Nevada will be in attendance at this conference.
Speech and Debate
Congratulations to Katharyn Woods and Katie Garza for placing fourth in the speech and debate tournament Jan. 13 and 14 at Douglas High School.
It was their first time competing in the event. They performed an interpretation of "Green Eggs and Ham," by Dr. Seuss.
Also, congratulations to Sean Lopez for placing second in the district level competition of the American Legion speaking contest Jan. 14. The speech and debate team is gearing up to host the last league tournament of the season March 2 and 3.
Community volunteers are needed to judge events. Judging is both fun and rewarding and no experience is required but a judge training will be provided for everyone interested.
Anyone who would like to participate in this special event is encouraged to contact Patrick Mobley at pmobley@carson.k12.nv.us.
