3 held in beating of Carson man

Three men have been arrested in connection with the severe beating of a Carson City man.

Theodore Anthony Gazarek, 22, and Kyle James Tesmilles, 20, both of Carson City, and Michael James Eastwood, 24, of Sparks, were charged with felony battery with substantial bodily harm after allegedly beating up another man about 11:15 p.m. Friday near South Carson Meadow Drive and Como Street. Eastwood and Gazarek also face felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Eastwood was seen with either a baseball bat or metal pipe by witnesses, and Tesmilles told police that he saw Gazarek with what appeared to be a knife before the fight started, according to the arrest report.

Gazarek reportedly admitted to police that he kept kicking the victim after the victim went to the ground, which witnesses corroborated, according to the arrest report.

The victim was bleeding heavily from the head, and his T-shirt was soaked with blood, Deputy Quan M. Tran reported. He told police that he had been jumped by people with bats, pipes and sticks and that they were punching and kicking him when he went to the ground, but he didn't know whether he had been hit in the head with any weapons, according to the arrest report. He was taken by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center because those at the scene couldn't determine the severity of his injuries, according to the arrest report. Authorities identified him as Robert S. Moose; his age and city of residence were not known.

Tran reported finding a flathead screwdriver and metal pipe in some bushes near the scene of the attack.

Tran reported that all three suspects had smeared blood on them and minor injuries apparently from being in a fight. They told him that Gazarek started the fight because of a dispute with the victim from the day before.

Gazarek was reportedly on alternative sentencing with a no-alcohol clause but tested positive for alcohol with a preliminary breath test. When officers went to his apartment, they reported finding Eastbrook's younger brother, a 20-year-old who smelled of alcohol and was obstructing officers, according to the arrest report. He was charged with minor consuming alcohol and obstructing an officer, both misdemeanors. His bail was $650.

Tesmilles' bail was $20,000. Gazarek's bail was $43,000. Eastwood's bail was $40,000.
