Nutile, Pitz opens Reno office

A Las Vegas law firm that specializes in work with health-related professionals and businesses has opened an office in Reno.

Lyn E. Beggs, a Reno attorney who previously worked as general counsel of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners, will work fulltime in the Reno office of Nutile Pitz & Associates.

The boutique firm decided to launch a fulltime presence in northern Nevada because of the region's growing healthcare sector as well as its proximity to state agencies in Carson City and the University of Nevada Medical School in Reno.

"It was a natural progression for us," says Susan Pitz, a partner in the 10-year-old firm. "We really wanted a fulltime presence in northern Nevada."

Business-related legal work for healthcare professionals and facilities including work with state regulatory agencies and lawmakers accounts for the lion's share of practice of Nutile Pitz & Associates, Pitz said.

Its staff of three attorneys in Las Vegas includes founder Maria Nutile, Pitz and Kelly McIntosh.

Beggs worked seven years for the State Board of Medical Examiners, including three years as its general counsel. She also has worked as a Washoe County public defender.

She is a graduate of Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore., and eared a bachelor's degree in international affairs from the University of Nevada, Reno.
