Obituary: Ignazio Iterrante

Ignazio Interrante, 90, a Carson City resident, passed away July 22, 2012. He was born March 12, 1922 in New York City, NY to Mario and Josephine Interrante. He was raised in Brooklyn along with eight siblings. He married his loving wife, Flora, on June 9, 1946. They had five children, Mario, Anthony, Gary (Tammy), Marie and Janet (Joey); 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Ignazio is a World War II veteran and served as a combat army engineer during the Normandy invasion through France and Germany. He enjoyed raising and breeding show pigeons and was a member of many clubs in New York and California. In 1960, Ignazio moved his family to California and worked as an aerospace engineer until his retirement in 1984. He was preceded in death by a son.

Ignazio is survived by his wife Flora, four children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with full military honors. FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for arrangements.
