Obituary: Kani D. Shannon

Carson City native and life-long resident, Kani D. Shannon, passed away at home on May 25, 2012. He was born to Robert Shannon and Jackie Cattanach in September of 1950. Kani attended Carson City schools and graduated from Carson High in 1968. After graduation, he served in the Nevada Air National Guard, worked at George H. Meyers Hardware, and was a member of Warren Engine Company No. 1. He was employed as a firefighter and engineer with the Carson City Fire Department from 1972 - 2002, and he was a dedicated curator of the Warren Engine Company Museum. Kani will be greatly missed by his many friends and his family which include his mother, Jackie Cattanach of Carson City; son, Hank Shannon (Sonja) of Carson City; sisters, Barbara Barhydt of Reno, Terrie Toombs (Mike) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Lisa Partee (Dave) of Carson City, Shellie Shannon of Carson City; brother, Greg Shannon of Reno and former wife and friend, Jackie Shannon, of Carson City. At his request, there will be a private interment at Glenbrook, Nevada. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.
