With great sadness we share the news of the passing of beloved wife and mother, Karen Cross, on June 1, 2012.
Karen was born in Los Angeles, CA, on February 2, 1959 to John and Nancy Boyd. She graduated from Westchester High School in 1977 and was married to Kevin Cross in 1983. Her first son, Ryan, was born in 1984 and Sean followed in 1987. The family lived in Los Angeles and then Santa Cruz, California before moving to Dayton, NV in 1990, where they have lived since.
Karen worked as a retail clerk in Albertson's grocery store, the records department of the DMV in Carson City, Science Based Health, and finally at the Nevada Appeal office of Swift Communications.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, John and Nancy Boyd. She is survived by her loving husband and sons, Kevin, Ryan and Sean, as well as her brothers Steve, Gary, Mark and Kurt, and the extended Cross and Boyd families.
Karen will be remembered by acquaintances for her kindness, generosity, positivity and selflessness. She was well known to put everyone else before herself. Through the years, Karen's happiest times were with her family and friends on the beaches of California and Lake Tahoe and spending time with those she loved.
Although she was taken by cancer, through the ordeal, she showed strength, courage, dignity and incredible character. A wonderful example of an extremely strong human being. We are sad to let her go, but confident that her spirit lives on in us and all those who she touched in her life.
Karen's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in Carson City who did their best to help her and tended to her difficulties. Also to those who have extended their love and support to Karen and her family.
Plans to celebrate Karen's life are being made for the end of July.
