The Board of Supervisors meets Monday to canvass the primary election results.

That is the process required by state law that makes the local election results official.

Clerk-Recorder Alan Glover will present the board with a report showing 7,705 voters turned out for last Tuesday's primary.

That includes 4,136 early voters, three of whom picked up their computer card but didn't actually cast ballots.

Another 753 filed absentee ballots and 2,816 voted on election day.

With 22,551 registered in Carson City, that translates to a turnout of 34.15 percent ? much better than the statewide turnout of 18.9 percent.

The board will meet for the brief canvass at 9 a.m. Monday in the Community Center.

Local governing bodies including Carson City have to report the results of their canvass to the Secretary of State's office by June 21.
