Executives of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada, which is headquartered in Reno, and the Northern Nevada Development Authority based in Carson City last week signed an agreement that details how they will cooperate.
A key element in the agreement: Definition of the service areas that each of the agencies will serve.
EDAWN will provide economic development services in the Interstate 80 corridor from Washoe County to Fernley including portions of Storey and Lyon Counties.
NNDA will handle Carson, Churchill, Douglas, and portions of Lyon and Storey Counties south of I-80 and east and south of Fernley.
The two agencies will work in tandem to provide economic development services to Fernley.
The agreement calls full cooperation on all other areas of economic development where both agencies will strive at all times to be good partners in the joint cause of improving the economic vitality for all residents and businesses within northern Nevada.
That includes working together on leads provided by the Governor's Office of Economic Development about potential new or growing employers in northern Nevada.
Mike Kazmierski, chief executive officer of EDAWN, and Rob Hooper, executive director of NNDA, signed the agreement in a ceremony at the State Capitol last week.
