Pacific Bulk Equipment's new repair and sales center in Sparks helps position the company closer to Western-region customers as well as provides more exposure for its main supplier of trailer blowers, company executives said.

Pacific Bulk Equipment closed a $2.6 million purchase on the former B&C Builders Supply location at 543 Overmyer Road in mid-February.

The new sales and repair center will open this spring, but the operation is selling equipment now, company officials said.

Pacific Bulk Equipment sells new and used big rig trailers, including lowboys, frameless and non-frameless dumps, and pneumatic tank trailers for the dry bulk industry.

The company sells new trailers from Heil, J&L, Mac, Retesa, Timpte, Trail King, Troxell, and Vikings, along with a large inventory of used equipment.

The 32,000-square-foot building has 12 bays that will be used for inspection and repair of trailers and trailer blowers.

Pacific Bulk Equipment is the fifth a series of corporations that includes Southeastern Pneumatic, Southwestern Pneumatic, Pneumatic Exports and Preferred Lowboys. The companies operate in Georgia, Alabama, South and North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and New Mexico.

Spencer Welch, Southeastern Pneumatic's chief information officer, says Pacific Bulk Equipment chose a western location partly because its main supplier for blowers, Garner Denver of Quincy, Ill, wanted to increase its presence in the region.

"We purchased an existing facility because we wanted to be able to set up a facility and be operational as soon as possible,' Welch said. "They have prompted several of our facilities to open, and they asked us if we would open up facility to push their blowers out West."

The NAI Alliance industrial team of J. Michael Hoeck, Dave Simonsen, Dan Oster and Michael Nevis assisted the seller in the transaction. Fred Miller of Dickson Realty represented Pacific Bulk Equipment with purchase of the 6.56-acre property.
