Obituary: Dr. Patrick William Flynn

Dr. Patrick William Flynn, born August 16, 1933 in Spokane, Washington, passed away on March 1st, 2012 in Carson City, Nevada. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marion McKechnie Flynn; his daughters, Cinda Flynn of Corvallis, OR and Monica Flynn of San Diego, CA.; his son, Patrick Flynn Jr. of Centennial, CO; and his grandchildren, Sean, Paige, Amelia and Gabriela. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Michael. He is also survived by three brothers, two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. We are all deeply saddened by his loss. He had a kind and generous spirit and he will be sorely missed.

Pat spent many of his younger years in Coronado, CA and was a graduate of Coronado High School. He attended the University of South Dakota and received his medical degree from the University of Texas, Dallas in 1960. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served 24 years as a flight surgeon. He retired to private practice in 1986 to Carson City, Nevada where he was much loved by his patients. He spent his last few years in medicine as an emergency room physician and retired in 2001.

Pat was a great lover of animals and the outdoors. In particular he had a passion for diving and fishing in Baja California and spent his life doing both throughout the coastal waters of the Peninsula. He spent his remaining years traveling to his beloved Baja.

Funeral Services will be held at the Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego, CA on March 9th at 12:30 pm with a reception to follow at the home of his brother Dr. Vincent Flynn and his wife Patricia Flynn in Coronado, CA.
