Speed limit: President Roosevelt addressed to governors a letter proposing that states limit the speed of motor traffic to 40 miles an hour ... the Nevada highway board adopted a resolution limiting the speed of department cars to 45 miles per hour - to conserve lives, tires and gasoline.

Radioactivity: Abraham Ribicoff, Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare has declared that radioactivity in the atmosphere caused by nuclear weapons has not reached the stage where it's a threat to health. "I do believe that while all radioactive fallout is to be decried, what is in the atmosphere at the present time does not represent a danger to health, as generally often surmised or estimated."

Stumped on homework - just ring Dial-A-Teacher. Carson City school pupils having trouble with their homework have another resource besides parents and friends. The new service of the Ormsby County Teachers Association makes its debut and will be able to put their questions to six teachers.

Nevada's unemployment rate is at 6.2 percent and 70,000 Nevadans are out of a job. Gov. Kenny Guinn is working quickly to extend unemployment benefits to up to 13,000 out of work Nevadans.
