Thanks to all of those who made Bingo Chili Night a great success
Carson Middle School PTA would like to thank the following businesses that supported our Bingo Chili Night on March 23.
The Annual Bingo Chili Night sponsored by the Carson Middle School PTA raised funds for the CMS Band, which is directed by Band Teacher Will Blankenship.
The chili cook-off included entries from teachers, students and parents. The proceeds from the fund-raising help the band buy new instruments. Last year they raised enough to acquire a new Vibraphone and this year's effort will provide more than enough for a new Timpani Drum. One hundred percent of the band students participated in the fundraising.
We had over 450 attendees that were able to engage with our school and enjoy a fun filled evening with their children. Younger patrons had their faces painted by the band and leadership students which made it an enjoyable evening for all.
Even though the emphasis of the night is an economical social event for families to get involved with our school, we earned a total of over $5,000. This will help our PTA's great projects such as: band instruments, CMS Wetlands Project, Art Contests, Teacher Appreciation, Sea Cadets, Watch D.O.G.S. Program (Dad's of Great Students), 8th Grade Promotion Celebration, etc.
The following local businesses, some of whom were once students of Mr. Blankenship, all generously donated to the effort: Northern Nevada Coin (who also helped run the silent auction), Vivo Band Instrument Repair, El Charro Avitia, Downtown Coin, Pizza Factory, The Basil Restaurant, Panda Kitchen, Benson's Feed and Tack, Hanifan's Antiques, Los Garcia's, Carson Hot Springs, Gold Dust West, Starbucks, Johnny Rockets, IHOP, Garibaldi's, The Car Wash, Massage Therapeutics Therapist Linda Martin, Massage Therapeutics Therapist Heather Maxwell, Hobby town, Adele's, Donuts to go, Home Depot, Dominoes Pizza, The Cracker Box, Liberty Tax, Carson City Car Wash, Z Bistro, Courtyard by Marriott, Debug Computers, Mo & Sluggo's, Bobby Page's Dry Cleaning, GT Mobile Repair, Massage therapist April Parsley Brown, Massage therapist Theresa Touhy, McDonald's, The Bodhi Tree, Galaxy Theatres, Casino Fandango, Grocery Outlet, Casino Fandango / Galaxy Theaters, Reno Bighorns ,Sierra Adrenaline Cheer & Tumbling, Empire Ranch Golf , McDonald's, Silver Oak Golf, Mary Kay, UNR -baseball and football, Red's Old 395 Grill, Dutch Bros. Support made memorial run/walk special
We would like to thank the community for their phenomenal support of the Stephen and Keegan Memorial Run/Walk. We wanted to remember the boys and celebrate their lives. We could not have asked for a better testament of what a wonderful community we have.
The outpouring of generosity from our sponsors made the event a huge success: Kaia F.I.T., El Charro Avitia, Red Hut, Team Sports Ink, Tumbleweeds, Sign Wizzard, Raley's, Carson City Health and Human Services, Distinctive Style Salon, McDonald's, Coombs and Beglin Orthodontics, The Purple Avocado, Prestige Car Wash, Big O Tires, Starbucks, Madeleine's Cookies, Velvet Touch, Kelly-Moore Paint's, Essential Kneads, Massage by Paula, BAC to Broadway Kids and Stephen Palazzolo.
This will help so many kids at Carson High School to be ale to participate in sports, to build strong friendships and benefit from all of the positive influences that being part of a team can bring.
We look forward to making this an annual event to remember - not only Stephen and Keegan, but also all of our loved ones who have gone before us. Thank you again.

Third annual CTRH rummage sale a success
On April 13 and 14, the Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare Auxiliary held its third annual rummage sale.
This has become a popular and successful event helping us raise funds for nursing scholarships, which we award annually.
We would like to thank the Eagles for once again allowing us to use their hall for our sale, and a special thank you to Don who made sure we had fresh coffee every morning.
Special thanks go to all of the wonderful people in our community who have donated a wide range of quality, useful and unusual items. Without your contributions, this event would not be possible.
Thanks too to our many volunteers who assisted in sorting and displaying all of the donations and providing assistance during the sale.
The people of Carson City are truly very generous. Thank you to everyone who helped and participated.

Thank you firefighters, responders
I had a fire in my home on the weekend of April 14 in southeast Carson, and I would like to thank all the firefighters and responders who handled everything in a professional and kindly manner.
I would also like to thank my wonderful neighbors who called in the fire and stayed with me until late in the night while the fire was being put out in my home.

Douglas Sheriff's Department puts on excellent academy
The seniors of Douglas County would like to express their appreciation to Sheriff Ron Pierini and the Douglas County Sheriff's Department for presenting another excellent Senior Law Enforcement Academy which was completed on April 20.
This five-day school was made available to all local seniors to provide information on the composition, operation and functions of the Sheriff's Department and supporting organizations.
A special recognition goes out to Sgt. Jim Halsey who organized and managed this academy.
Some of the subjects which were covered were the organization, patrols, investigations, gang control, drug abatement, jail operations, 911 operations, SWAT team, K9 unit, weapons, and juvenile and school support.
Special presentations were made by the East Fork Fire Department and Douglas County Nevada TRIAD who help to sponsor this school.
Attendees were encouraged to become volunteers for the Sheriff's Department or other Douglas County organizations.
The Senior Law Enforcement Academy is usually conducted on an annual basis and has always been well-attended by Douglas County seniors.
