George H. Hillman, Jr., 95, of Carson City, passed away on May 22, 2012. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on August 8, 1916 to George and "Mimmie" (Marie) Hillman.
George married his loving wife, Jean, on March 7, 1946. They recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. They came to Carson City from Florida 17 years ago. George was a decorated Air Force Captain who served our country during World War II as a Bomber Pilot. He was shot down on his last mission and was a Prisoner of War until the war ended.
George worked for Consumers Power Company in Michigan for 32 years. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club and an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Carson City. He was an avid golfer, a water color artist and loved to fly his small plane.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Dorothy Howell and Margaret Sayler; and his brother, Howard Hillman. George is survived by his wife, Jean Hillman of Carson City; his son, 'Bud' (George) H. Hillman, III, and his wife Michelle; grandchildren Danner Hillman and Emily Hillman all of Gardnerville; and his daughter, Deborah Hillman and her partner, Beth Evesong of Hilo, Hawaii.
There will be a funeral service at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Carson City on Friday June 1, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors will follow the service at the Lone Mountain Cemetery. Those attending are invited to a gathering following the burial service.
