Vera Jean Reagan loving wife and mother passed away on Mother's Day May 13, 2012. Vera was born October 11, 1930 in Alliance, Nebraska. Her parents were Eugene Kellogg and Hazel Benjamin. Hazel raised Vera in Alliance until Vera was in her teens, then Hazel and Vera moved to Denver, Colorado where Vera eventually met her husband of sixty-two years, William (Bill) H. Reagan. They were married June 10, 1949 in Denver. Afterwards, they lived in a small Quonset hut in San Francisco, California while Mr. Reagan served out his term in the Navy. Once back in Denver Vera gave birth to her first child in 1950. She was kept busy for the next several years giving birth to five more children. In 1956, Vera and Bill moved their family to Southern California and made their home in Azusa. Vera gave birth to two more children. From Azusa, they moved to Canoga Park, California where they lived for twenty two years. In 1990, Vera and Bill moved to Gardnerville, NV.
Vera enjoyed square dancing, and joined the Canoga Park Jubileers and the Carson Valley Twirlers. She loved camping with her family and visited many National Forests, Yosemite was her favorite. She loved traveling, and in 1972 Vera along with Dale Evans Rogers visited the Holy Land. Vera enjoyed living in the Carson Valley and loved watching the Carson Valley Days and Nevada Day Parade.
During tax season Vera worked for H & R Block as a tax preparer, and donated her services to the Douglas County Senior Center. Vera did volunteer work for the March of Dimes.
Vera had a sweet and loving spirit and will be deeply missed by her family.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, and her best friend and Cousin Velma Avadeff.
Vera is survived by her husband Bill Reagan, her eight children Ronald Reagan, Barbara (Barry) Lederman, Carol (Ron) Cox, Linda (Tim) Hoggatt, and Chris Reagan of Santa Clarita, California; William Reagan Jr. of Chatsworth, California; Karen (Mike) McGriff and Jeffery (Deena) Reagan of Minden, Nevada, and Twenty grand children and fifteen great grand children.
A memorial service will be held on May 27, 2012 at the home of her daughter Linda in Santa Clarita.
