Farr West Engineering of Reno has acquired Chilton Engineering & Surveying of Elko.

Both companies are privately held, and terms weren't disclosed.

Brent Farr, the president of Farr West Engineering, said the acquisition provides diversification and expands the company's resources.

Chilton Engineering, founded in 1969, has nine employees, including licensed civil engineers, professional land and water rights surveyors and staff engineers.

It has worked with municipal and private clients statewide.

Farr West's staff of 22 employees includes licensed civil and environmental engineers, hydro-geologists, geographic information system specialists, construction inspectors, and administrative support personnel.

Farr West Engineering was launched in 2001 by Farr, who has worked 17 years in engineering.

Chris Woster, the president of Chilton Engineering, joined the firm in 1989 as a senior civil engineer and became president in 1995.

David Pulley, a senior project manager in the Farr West-Chilton office in Elko, has more than 20 years experience in engineering and previously worked for Farr West in its Reno office.
