The scientists claim that there is a certain amount of alcohol in the atmosphere and the higher you go, the more you find it. The Enterprise thinks that this is true in Virginia, particularly around the time of the elections. When a party of Slippery Gulchers arrive in Carson the atmosphere is heavy with the flavor of the Gold Hill and Divide whiskey.

70 years ago

The Ormsby County Salvage Committee held a meeting where Justice of the Peace Richard L. Waters reported that to date 800 pounds of fats has been collected and sold. Carson merchants pay four cents a pound for fats delivered to them.

Boone Tidwell of Hesperia, Calif., returned three bulls to the Dann sisters. Tidwell returned the animals after purchasing them at a Bureau of Land Management Auction that sought to return some $3 million in grazing fees from the women, who claimed the land where the cattle were grazed, belongs to the Western Shoshone.
