Looking for a way to get videogame developers out of their chairs, executives of 3G Studios in Reno challenged the staff of Understand.com, another Reno software firm, to a kickball game.

Under the lights. At Aces Ballpark.

Even though the 3G team didn't win the kickball game, the company was among six recognized in the second annual "Healthiest Places to Work" competition.

Winners were announced during the The Chamber's Fifth Annual Healthcare Forum. Nearly 250 people purchased tickets for the event.

Winners in the Healthiest Places to Work were:

Small employers: 3G Studios. The Bosma Group of Reno also was a finalist.

Mid-sized employers: Bristlecone Family Resources of Reno, which is replacing some staff potlucks with active outdoor events. PC-Doctor of Reno also was a finalist.

Large employers: NV Energy, whose wellness program ranges from healthy choices in its cafeteria to lockers for participants in weight-training classes. Renown Health also was a finalist.

Sarah Sommers of Solutions at Work, who chaired the healthcare forum, said the number of nominations for the Healthiest Places to Work program this year were about 50 percent higher than they were in 2011.
