A 26-year-old Carson City man was sentenced Monday to a maximum of 24 years in prison after he admitted two counts attempted lewdness child under age 14.
Michael Lee Irwin must serve a minimum of 32 months on each count.
Irwin's admission "that you molested these girls," weighed heavily, District Judge James Russell said in ordering Irwin's sentences run consecutively.
"There's no excuse," Russell told Irwin. "It's deplorable."
Irwin was arrested in April.
"I'm not in this alone," Irwin said, referring to the five members of his family in court, who stood when requested by the defense attorney to show their support.
Irwin's defense attorney had asked for probation.
A man who said he is the grandfather and guardian of the victims, took the stand to protest against a lenient sentence for Irwin.
Looking straight at Irwin, he said he would have sought help when he hurt his first victim, not now that he's pleaded guilty.
"I will absolutely vomit if this guy gets probation," he said.
Assistant District Attorney Mark Krueger drove home the point.
"(Irwin has) caused a lifetime of pain" for the victims, he said to the judge.
Irwin was convicted in June 2009 of unlawful contact with a child, a gross misdemeanor.
