Logan William Merriwether, beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, died September 15, while swimming in Lake Almanor. He was 24.

Logan was born in Carson City on November 11, 1987. He is survived by his mother, Susan (Klena) Merriwether (of Carson City, Nevada); father, William Merriwether (of Whitehall, Montana); and his younger brother and best friend, Garret Merriwether.

Logan graduated from Carson City High School in 2005 and went on to get his cosmetology license from the International Academy of Style. He was working at Slice Salon in Reno and had recently gone back to school to pursue his dream to become an architect.

Logan was known for his infectious energy, caring nature, and curious spirit. He was passionate about civil rights and the environment. He loved music, fashion, design, cooking, and gardening. His creative talents included doing DIY home improvement projects and fixing everything from electronics to car engines. His favorite thing in the world was being with his friends and family -- hanging out, wake-boarding, skiing, and spending time on the lake.

Logan's death leaves a huge hole in the heart of everyone who ever knew him. He was the life of our party, and he left much too soon.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 29th, 11 a.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northern Nevada, 780 Del Monte Lane, Reno. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "It Gets Better Project" (www.itgetsbetter.org).
