Becky Nourse has been selected as the acting Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest supervisor until the position is filled permanently.

Nourse replaces Jeanne Higgins will be leaving to serve as one of the deputy regional foresters for the Forest Service's Southwest Region (Arizona and New Mexico).

Nourse has served as the forest supervisor at the Sawtooth National Forest in Twin Falls, Idaho since December 2010. She returned to Sawtooth after a ten-year absence where she originally served as a deputy area ranger in central Idaho for a three-year assignment on the Sawtooth National Recreation Area from 1999 to 2001.

Nourse also was deputy forest supervisor of the Tongass National Forest in and Cordova district ranger at Chugach National Forest in Alaska. She also worked as the U.S. Forest Service Alaska Region's Congressional/Legislative Liaison in Washington, D.C.

Nourse has also served as a firefighter and at the Washington Department of Wildlife.

Nourse graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, with a bachelor's degree in biology.
