Ideas worth sharing about business in northern Nevada are expected to be shared during an event at the University of Nevada, Reno, early next year.
But first, organizers of the event known as TEDx need to hear what ideas people in the community want to share.
TEDxUniversityofNevada, independently organized under a license from a nonprofit that's been hosting conferences to share ideas around the world since 1984, is looking for speaker proposals from business and community leaders, educators and students.
Proposals should present unique and meaningful ideas with a local or regional focus, says Bret Simmons, an associate professor of management at UNR who is committee program chair for the one-day event scheduled for Jan. 25.
"We want to bring together thought leaders from throughout the region," Simmons says.
Because TED the name stands for "Technology, Entertainment, Design" requires that all sessions be recorded, Simmons said the presentations uploaded to YouTube provide an opportunity create a stronger awareness of northern Nevada worldwide.
Presentations are limited to 18 minutes, and at least 12 presentations will be scheduled during the day.
