The statement of recent victories over the Apaches in Arizona by General Crook are confirmed by letters received at Prescott. They have surrendered and are coming into the San Carlos Reservation. They acknowledge the whites are too many for them.

130 YEARS AGO

At the Methodist Church this evening there will be an interesting service for children. There will be temperance songs and recitations and a short sermon by W.C. Gray. Friends of temperance are especially invited.

100 YEARS AGO

Attorney General Thatcher has replied to a request by the District Attorney of Nye County concerning the amendment to the Anti-Gambling law passed at a recent session of the legislature. “I have to advise that in my opinion this act in unequivocal terms absolutely prohibits all gambling of any character or nature.”

70 YEARS AGO

Mrs. Henry von Berg has been elected president of the Carson City Parent-Teacher Association. Vice President was Mrs. Martha Gleason. Corresponding secretary was Miss Grace Bordewich. The chairman of the hot lunch project reported that sufficient money is now available to make unnecessary any further volunteer labor.

50 YEARS AGO

After 46 years of public life, Bruno Peri of Carson City is retiring. Peri came to Dayton in 1913 when they purchased the Moore Ranch, now the Peri Ranch. In 1918 they bought the Nuna Ranch on the Truckee River.

20 YEARS AGO

The State Legislature has again rejected a bill to limit increases in monthly mobile home lot rents.
