Led by downtown Carson City business owner Doreen Mack, 49 businesses and 11 business owners downtown have joined with others to form an advocacy group to support making Carson Street two lanes.
“The amazing Downtown Businesses have united to turn this Action Advocacy groups plans into positive actions for the downtown,” Mack said in a news release sent out Friday.
The Downtown 20/20 Action Advocacy Group was formed by Mack, owner of Lofty Expressions and the president of the group. The group “will strengthen its community partners and relationships, share resources and maximize its effort for the future plans, projects and events,” the release states.
Carson City’s Board of Supervisors is set to take up the issue of narrowing Carson Street traffic from four lanes to two downtown. It will review the proposal during a rare evening meeting Thursday that caps the normal day’s sessions.
The group held elections and has formed a board consisting of business owners and residents.
It promises in its release to take a more active part in marketing, advertising and bringing in more events, activities arts and entertainment.
