140 years ago

A poor boy, Tommy Kelly, was buried yesterday. He was from the Orphan’s Home where he died on Sunday. The little sufferer had been an invalid since birth. The little girls and boys walked, at their own request, to the graveyard and witnessed the burial. We believe this is the first death at the home.

The growth of Mormonism. It is no longer confined to Utah, but is spreading to Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming and Dakota. They certainly seem to be working almost incredible progress in the face of all oppositions. — N.Y. Sun

It is admitted that all that is necessary to reclaim the waste lands of this county is to bring underground waters to the surface. Sagebrush land north of this city has an abundance of water at a shallow depth. The water is there if a farmer really needs it.

Fishing season opens April 15. Fishing license prices: Resident, $1.50; non-resident, $3; alien, $7.50 and non-resident military men, $1.50.

A teenage drag racer found out this morning that Justice of the Peace Pete Supera meant business when he warned young speeders would lose their licenses. A New Empire youth drag racing on Winnie Lane had is license suspended for six months. The other drag racer will appear later today.

For the fifth time since January, the Ormsby House is again up for sale. A previous sale was not completed because an environmental impact study was not complete.
