Top Nevada officials involved with the introduction of healthcare reform in the state will be among speakers at the Governor’s Conference on Small Business in Reno.
The event sponsored by the Nevada Department of Business and Industry in partnership with The Chamber is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. August 28 at the Grand Sierra Resort.
Keynote speaker during a luncheon even will be Anthony Levandowski of Google, leader of the company initiative to develop a driverless car.
Speaking during a panel discussion of health insurance myths and facts will be Scott Kipper, administrator of the Nevada Division of Insurance, and Jon Hager, executive director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange.
Other panels will include a session on access to capital and a session on educating tomorrow’s workforce.
Participants in the access-to-capital session will be Ed Cadena, the Nevada district director of the Small Business Administration; Roberto Barragan, chief executive officer of Valley Economic Development Center; and Tom Traficanti, chief credit officer of Heritage Bank.
Education panelists will include Marc Johnson, president of the University of Nevada, Reno; Maria Sheehan, president of Truckee Meadows Community College; and Aimee Hoyt, executive vice president of human resources for International Game Technology.
