2 arrested in recent Douglas burglaries

Two Gardnerville men were arrested Thursday for allegedly burglarizing a convenience store and a laundromat and breaking into five vehicles.

According to Sheriff Ron Pierini:

Angel Razo-Ortega, 25, and Tanner Cooper, 21, were in the Douglas County Jail on $75,000 bail each. Both are being held on suspicion of attempted robbery, burglary and conspiracy.

Razo-Ortega entered the store Aug. 9, produced a BB handgun and demanded the clerk fill a bag with money.

“He brandished the firearm at the clerk, who refused to give him the money,” Pierini said. “He continued to point the weapon at the clerk and said, ‘I don’t want to shoot you.’”

Also according to Pierini:

After the clerk refused to give Razo-Ortega money, he fled. Cooper wasn’t with him, but they conspired to commit the burglary.

After midnight, Cooper and Razo-Ortega burglarized a nearby Gardnerville laundromat, stealing an undisclosed amount of money.

The pair also are accused of five vehicle burglaries in Mackland and Chichester Estates.
