Twenty companies whose products range from all-terrain vehicles to swimming-pool diving boards are among the early nominees for the second annual Existing Industry Awards sponsored by the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.

The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. on Thursday.

The awards, which will be presented during an Oct. 3 event at the Peppermill, recognize existing primary companies — companies that draw more than 50 percent of their revenue from outside the region.

The companies to be honored will operate in Washoe County, Tahoe Reno Industrial Center or Fernley.

They’ll be recognized in categories such as significant expansion, significant capital investment, work in sustainability and work with local suppliers. Awards will be made in large-company and small-company (51 and fewer employees) categories.

Companies can nominate themselves, and nominations also are accepted from individuals, other companies and community partners. (See “Events and Calendar” at www.edawn.org for details.)
