Six people were arrested on felony drug counts Friday through Sunday in Carson City.

According to Sheriff’s Office arrest reports:

SUNDAY

A deputy responded to Mills Park about 5:15 p.m. on a report of a man and a woman “huffing” a substance.

Both denied huffing or using drugs in the park. The man, a 19-year-old from Carson City, produced a can of “duster” from his pants pocket. Some people inhale the substance, which is used to clean computer keyboards, and can lose consciousness doing so, according to an arrest report. Inhaling it is illegal.

The deputy arrested both. He then searched the Ford belonging to the woman, 19-year-old Alexandra Schwartz of Minden, using a K9 and found a metal spoon with burnt black residue resembling heroin. He also found a hypodermic needle and a small bottle of pills.

Schwartz was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance-heroin, possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of a substance. Bail was set at $2,500. The man was arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of a substance. Bail was set at $1,000. Schwartz had posted bail and left the Carson City Jail as of Monday evening.

Also Sunday, a deputy saw a man walking west on U.S. Highway 50 East about 12:53 a.m. and stopped to check on him, given that he looked younger than 18.

The deputy stopped the man near Sunrise Drive and asked for his identification. A check with dispatchers revealed that the man, 26-year-old Juan Medrano-Aguirre of Carson City, had a warrant for his arrest.

The deputy searched Medrano-Aguirre and found a folded dollar bill containing methamphetamine. Medrano-Aguirre was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and on a contempt-of-court warrant. Bail was set at $2,500. He remained at the Carson City Jail on Monday evening.

SATURDAY

A deputy with the Special Enforcement Team saw a 1999 Dodge Ram turn south onto Brown Street from Reeves Street without signaling about 10:45 p.m. The deputy pulled it over near Brown Street and Edmonds Drive.

A records check on driver Michael Duffy, 51, and Celena Penfold, 18, both of Carson City, showed Duffy did not have a valid driver’s license and was on supervision with the Department of Alternative Sentencing.

The deputy arrested Duffy. When he reviewed the vehicle’s inventory, he found a bag containing methamphetamine.

Duffy was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, no valid driver’s license, turn signal required and Department of Alternative Sentencing violation. Bail was set at $3,000. Penfold was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $2,500. Both were in the Carson City Jail on Monday evening.

FRIDAY

At 8:02 p.m., a deputy stopped the driver of an overloaded white Chevy pickup that was losing trash out the back, failed to stop at a red light at Roop and Carson streets and had expired license plates.

The deputy asked the two occupants if they had drugs or drug paraphernalia, and they said no. The driver consented to a K9 search, and the dog that arrived sounded several alerts.

Deputies found a hypodermic device, a white crystal substance that tested positive as being methamphetamine, a spoon with residue and two glass smoking pipes.

Garrett Paul Ware, 40, and Danae Evans, 23, both of South Lake Tahoe, were arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $3,500 for each. Both remained in the Carson City Jail on Monday evening.
