Carson woman arrested on 2 felony drug counts

A Carson City woman was arrested on felony drug counts after a traffic stop Thursday night.

According to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office:

A deputy saw a vehicle headed north on Carson Street without its headlights on. He pulled it over and smelled an alcoholic odor as he talked with driver Ginnie Lorraine Heidt, 37.

Heidt was unable to complete a field sobriety test, but a preliminary breath test showed her blood-alcohol content was below 0.08 percent. The deputy asked Heidt if she had used any illegal drugs Thursday, and she replied, “Yes; no, wait. Two days ago.” She acknowledged that it was methamphetamine. The deputy asked if she had any drugs in her car, and she refused to consent to a search.

A K-9 sniffed deeply near the open window and indicated that drugs had been present. The deputy had Heidt empty her pockets, and she had a baggie containing a white crystalline substance.

Heidt was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, headlights required, no valid driver’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia. Total bail was set at $6,150.

Heidt also was arrested June 15, on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance. A fire had burned at her home while she was away. While a fire department investigator was conducting a walk-through with Heidt to review the damage, she reportedly grabbed a bottle of pills on the kitchen counter and tried to conceal it.

The bottle had no label and contained a plastic bag with several small pills inside. Heidt reportedly said the pills were Dilaudid, a narcotic painkiller, and that she had a prescription. She wasn’t about to provide it and was arrested.
