Murder suspect is placed on no-bail hold

The man accused in the death of 19-year-old Desiree Bragg was ordered held without bail during a Friday hearing.Carson City resident Leonardo Cardoza, 28, was arraigned on a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon.“At this point, I don’t feel I have enough information to prove he’s not a flight risk,” said Judge Steve McMorris, who was filling in for Justice of the Peace John Tatro. McMorris said the issue of bail could be revisited by Tatro, and set a March 22 date for a preliminary hearing.Cardoza allegedly began tailgating Bragg and her fianc, Steven Castro, from Highway 50 for two miles, following them to her mother’s house. He then allegedly idled at the end of the driveway on Cinnabar Avenue until Bragg got out of her vehicle, and then drove into her, according to arrest reports. Bragg died from her injuries Wednesday afternoon.
