Annual collegiate business-plan contest nears

Collegiate teams that expect to compete for as much as $66,000 in cash prizes face their first deadline this week in the 2013 Donald W. Reynolds Governor's Cup Collegiate Business Plan Competition.

Teams must file a notice of intent to compete by Thursday.

The annual business-plan competition overseen by Nevada's Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology is open to all college and university students in the state.

Finished plans are due on March 20, and winners will be announced April 18 at a gala at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

Prizes are awarded separately in undergraduate and graduate divisions.

First place prices are $25,000, second-place is worth $15,000, and the third-place award is $10,000.

First and second place winners go on to compete in the Tri-State Donald W. Reynolds Cup, which also draws teams from Arkansas and Oklahoma.
