Granite Construction Co. of Sparks has won a 2012 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of a Nevada Department of Transportation asphalt pavement project near Currie. The award was presented on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at a ceremony during the association's 58th Annual Meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Granite and NDOT won the award for the overlay of 19 miles of U.S. Highway 93 for its use of cold in-place recycling allowed the utilization of existing materials to increase the structural capacity of the road while reducing the amount of new resources required.
