Runa Coyle, 99, of Carson City, Nev., passed away peacefully at Mountain View Health & Rehab Center. She had lived in Carson City since 1973 until the passing of her husband, Vincent B. Coyle in 1992. In 1993, she moved in with her daughter.She was born in Winnipeg, Canada, Feb. 28, 1913 to Pjetur and Adalbjorg Hermann. She was raised in the Icelandic community of Mountain, N. D. with 1 sister and 5 brothers. Her first language was Icelandic. She was very proud of her Icelandic heritage and was ready to discuss it with anyone willing to listen.She left North Dakota in 1938 for California. While living in San Jose, Calif. she met her husband through friends at a dance in San Francisco. Runa and Vincent were married May 24, 1941.She was an excellent cook and homemaker. There was never a time friends or family would unexpectedly stop for a visit when she couldn’t whip up a gourmet lunch or dinner to serve. She loved big band music, dancing and in her later years playing the slot machines.Runa was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years; her five siblings; and one grandson. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her step-daughter, Yvonne Sotomayor of La Crescenta, Calif.; daughter, Mary Robinson of Carson City; her sons, Vincent (Terry), and Bill (Debbie) both of Carson City; her 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.There will be no services, a private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
