A Carson City man was arrested early Saturday after allegedly burglarizing a home on Carson City’s west side, then running between houses to avoid arrest.

According to the Sheriff’s Office:

A deputy responded to the 800 block of West Washington Street shortly after 1 a.m. on a report of a burglary in progress. A resident of the home reported seeing a man leaving their home through the sliding-glass door.

When deputies arrived, the man, 19-year-old Javier Martinez, was running between houses and jumping fences in an attempt to evade capture. Deputies apprehended him at West Washington and Mountain streets, and he had several items belonging to the home’s residents: a Social Security card, two insurance cards, a Costco card and three credit cards.

Martinez was booked on suspicion of felony possession of stolen property, residential burglary and obstructing, as well as on the violation-of-conditions warrant. Bail was set at $46,500.

Martinez remained in the Carson City Jail on Monday afternoon.
