Hof adding Sagebrush Ranch to brothel portfolio

Dennis Hof, longtime owner of the Love Ranch and Bunny Ranch brothels in Mound House, last week closed escrow on the Sagebrush Ranch brothel and Squeeze Play strip club on Kit Kat Road in Lyon County.

Hof, whose Bunny Ranch was made famous by the long-running HBO series “Cathouse,” paid $2 million for the two properties in an all-cash deal. Along with the closed Kit Kat Ranch, which is expected to re-open in mid-August after extensive renovations, Hof now controls all four brothels located in Lyon County.

He purchased the Love Ranch in 1992 and added the Bunny Ranch to his portfolio in 1997. He bought the Kit Kat Ranch about six months ago. The lack of competition and shared management and maintenance staff better positions each of the properties for continued success, he says.

“Due to the synergy we have now, we can hand things out at all four brothels for customers to go to the other places,” he says. “We do not have to hire more maintenance people; we already have a team that does the maintenance on these properties.

“We also will have better buyer power for different products like editorial, liquor and food. We don’t have to add payroll, and we have got all the management in place. We think that is a great advantage.”

Hof says Sagebrush Ranch and Squeeze Play employ about 15 along with 50 working girls. He also plans on reopening the NV 50 Night Club/Bunny Ranch Bar in the next few weeks. Hof closed the property in 2009 as the recession began rocking Lyon County.
