A woman was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, following a fire at her home.

The Carson City Fire Department was called to a unit at 219 Allouette Way at 1:27 a.m., said Capt. David Ruben. The fire was mostly contained to the garage.

Three fire engines, an ambulance, two chief officers and an investigator were called to the scene, Ruben said. Overall, 15 people were called.

According to Carson City Sheriff’s Office reports:

A deputy visited the home a couple of hours later, about 3:35 a.m., as part of an arson investigation. He was told occupant Ginnie Heidt, 37, was at a different home. The deputy interviewed her at that home; she said she hadn’t been home when the fire happened and only had heard from a friend that “something bad had happened” at her home.

A fire department investigator arrived and asked Heidt if she wanted to walk through her home to review the damage. While doing so, she reportedly grabbed a bottle of pills on the kitchen counter and tried to conceal it. The bottle had no label and contained a plastic bag with several small pills inside.

Heidt said the pills were Dilaudid, a narcotic painkiller, and that she had a prescription. She wasn’t about to provide it and was arrested.

She was being held Tuesday at the Carson City Jail. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
