William "Bill" A. Bettridge, 89, passed away March 7, 2013 in Carson City, NV. Bill was born October 1, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA to Eugene and Martha Bettridge. He has been a resident of Carson City, NV for the past 20 years, moving here from Monrovia, CA. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army-Air Force during WWII. He was very proud of the fact that he had flown 51 missions in the B-17 Bomber over Europe and Africa eight of which were very dangerous flights over the Ploesti oil fields in Romania.
As a civilian, Bill worked as a technician at Southern California Edison for 38 years, retiring in 1983. In his free time, Bill enjoyed most outdoor activities including hiking, fishing and camping. He and his wife, Marion, loved to travel touring the United States including Alaska.
Bill will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Marion. They were married February 1, 1947. He also leaves behind three sons, Michael (Ryoko), Daniel (Joyce) and Gregory (Laurie) and three daughters, Teresa Fontenot(Marty), Kathleen Jones (Charles) and Phyllis McLellan (Michael); one sister, Joan Luke; twenty grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.
There will be a visitation Monday, March 11, 2013, 5 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. at Walton's Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
