Dream It Do It Nevada coordinates many initiatives to bring the education system in direct contact with local employers in order to create a strong and competitive work force. I want to sincerely thank all those involved with our manufacturing tour for their commitment to our community and to the education of our youth.Nearly thirty educators from the Carson City School District and Western Nevada College toured six different Carson City-area manufacturing operations with two goals in mind. First, to understand advanced manufacturing in today’s economy and see firsthand the tremendous career opportunities available to our young people. Second, to hear directly from employers what they are looking for in their employees, skills and attitudes necessary to not only get a foot in the door, but to grow and thrive in these amazing companies.Dream It Do It Nevada and the participating employers were impressed with Superintendent Richard Stokes and his team for their time and attention to the needs of manufacturers. The participation I saw from these educators showed me that Northern Nevadan children are in the best of hands and that they will have every opportunity to succeed in whatever career path they choose.I would also like to thank all of the employers in our community who are choosing to take action by engaging with the education system in Northern Nevada.
